American actor, best remembered for films such as Pillow Talk, Giant, Seconds, Ice Station Zebra, All That Heavens Allows, Written on the Wind, Tobruk and Avalanche. In 1967 he mentioned how tall he used to be:
I stand 6'5"...now I'm 6'4". My doctor tells me there's nothing unusual about it. Happens all the time to out-size people like me. I'm glad. Now I'm a little closer to the gang.
My teeth aren't very straight. I have terrible posture and a swayback. I wear glasses because I'm near-sighted, and I'm much too tall.
Most tall men are shy. We're so high up, we can't hear everything going on - so we have to be the silent type.
Jack [Scalia] started calling Rock 'the big guy,' and the writers used it in the scripts. Jack says he's sure Rock was not six feet four, as he has always stated, but six six. "I'm six one, and Rock dwarfed me. I've stood next to a lot of tall guys, and Rock was not six four."
